All of our staff are Independent Contractors (ICs)—not Unity employees—and enjoy all the freedom and the choices that come with that status. When you register as an independent member of the Unity Team you’ll have access to hundreds of assignments across this beautiful province of ours. We alert you to assignments that suit your special skills, schedule and particular preferences.
Once you’re onboard, you’ll have access to our state-of-the-art software, Shiftboard, which allows you to download an app to streamline searching, securing and keeping track of shifts on your Smart Phone.
While you’re taking care of patients, we take care of you—with things like WCB coverage.
With a staff of ten and a team of over three hundred, Unity stands behind each and every one of our contractors.
We place healthcare professionals in the positions of their choosing, providing the necessary information, contacts and
background support they need to succeed.
We provide WCB Coverage, assistance with travel plans and arrangements, flexible strategies for dealing with scheduling issues—including inclement weather (we are in Manitoba!)

We partner with Opticare Training Centre to provide state-of-the-art emergency room training.
Criteria to apply as a Unity Independent Contractor
- You will need to submit a complete resume with three references, one of which must be from
your most recent supervisor. - Nurses must be in good standing with their licensing body, CRNM, CLPNM, CRPNM.
- You will need to provide your license number.
- HCAs need to send in certificates.
- All ICs must be up date with their immunizations. Required Immunizations are as follows:
- MMRV – Measles, Mumps, Rubella and Varicella (Chickenpox)
- Hepatitis B series
- Tubercullin Mantoux screen
- Tdap – Tetnus, Diptheria and Pertussis (Whooping Cough)
- COVID-19
- All applicants must have a clear Criminal Record Check, Adult and Child Abuse Registry Check and Vulnerable Sector Search Check.
- All applicants must be up to date with BLS and CPR.
- For nurses seeking RHA work in acute facilities, TNCC, CTAS, ACLS and PALS is an asset.
- For nurses seeking to work in Birthing Units or OBS, NRP is a requirement.
- For ICs looking for work in LTC / PCH, experience with lifting equipment is beneficial as is
a Safe Client Handling course.
*All positions will benefit from paid travel time starting from either your residence or the Unity office in East Selkirk, which ever is closer to the point of the assignment.
We’re looking for:
Registered Nurses BN / RPN
$48-50 / hour based on location of assignment, services provided, experience, and qualifications. May increase if the Nurse qualifies for our Exclusive Partner Program (contact us for more details)
- Paid travel time
- Overtime and Stat holidays paid at 1.5 times the regular hourly rate of pay
- Per diem
- $60.00 per 12 hr shift
- $40.00 per 8 hr shift
- Mileage – $0.45/km travel

Licensed Practical Nurses
$36-39 / hour based on location of assignment, services provided, experience, and qualifications. May increase if the Nurse qualifies for our Exclusive Partner Program (contact us for more details)

- $60.00 per 12 hr shift
